‘Gud ka Gobar’:PM Modi replies to no-confidence motion debate in Lok Sabha on Thursday

The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is facing a no-confidence motion for the second time in nine years. The Lok Sabha initiated the no-confidence debate on Tuesday, with the Prime Minister offering his reply to the questions raised by the opposition.

The Parliament has been witnessing a logjam over a number of issues, including the violence in Manipur, since the beginning of the Monsoon Session on July 20.

During the no-confidence debate, the Congress leader referred to his visit to Manipur and his meetings with victims of violence in the state, which has been the crux of the debate.

PM Modi began his speech on the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha, speaking on the trust of the people of the country showed in the BJP government again and expressed his gratitude to the crores of the people of the country.

‘In 2018, I had said that no-confidence motion is not a floor test for us,’ he said, addressing to the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha. No-confidence motion is always lucky for us; this one also will ensure we will return with record-breaking mandate,’ he added.

‘We gave a scam-free govt to youth, gave them opportunity to fly high; we also restored pride of country and took it to new heights, there was need for discussion on important bills aimed at welfare of people, but opposition was interested in politicking,’ he said taking aim at the Opposition’s policy paralysis.

‘Our only resolution and goal should be development of country’

‘During this no-confidence motion, we saw something bizarre. The name of the Leader of Opposition was missing from the list of those who would speak during the no-trust motion. Opposition couldn’t prepare for debate on no-confidence motion despite so much time in hand, even its sympathisers are disappointed.’

The Prime Minister then resorted to cricketing analogies, saying ‘Centuries being scored here (treasury benches) and no-balls being bowled from there (opposition benches).

]What kind of discussion have you done on this motion. I am seeing on social media ki ‘Aapke darbari bhi bahut dukhi hai (your ministers are also unhappy).

‘Fielding Vipaksh ne organise kari lekin chauke-chakke yahi se lage… (the opposition organises the fielding, but we are the ones who are scoring)’

‘For opposition, party is above country they have more interest in hunger for power than hunger of people. Some trying to tarnish our image on global stage, but world knows the truth and won’t be misled.’

PM Modi said poverty is going down in India, citing NITI Aayog and IMF data to state that the country has almost got rid of extreme poverty.

‘As per UNICEF, ‘Swachh Bharat’ (Clean India) campaign helps poor people save up to INR 50,000 every year,’ he added.

‘Opposition has ‘ostrich-like approach’, I thank its leaders for wearing black in the House as I see that as ‘kaala teeka (black mark to ward of the effects of an evil eye).’

PM Modi continued with his swipes against the Opposition, adding ‘Opposition people have a secret blessing and that is good will happen with those for whom they wish bad,’

‘I convert abuses, unparliamentary language hurled at me by opposition into tonic.’

Vipaksh ke logon ko ek secret vardaan mila hua hai ki jiska bhi yeh log bura chahenge uska bhala hi hoga.’ (Opposition has ‘secret power’, anyone for whom it wishes ill is blessed instead).

‘One such example is standing before you. ‘20 saal ho gaye kya kuch nahi hua par bhala hi hota gaya..’ (20 years have passed, nothing but good has happened).

Mantra of ‘reform, perform and transform:’ PM Narendra Modi

PM Modi said that the Opposition said bad things about govt aerospace firm HAL but today it is touching new heights and that they spread misgivings about LIC, but the insurance firm is also touching new heights.

‘Few days back, I had said that India will become world’s third largest economy in our government’s third term. A responsible opposition would have asked our plan for it, or would have given us some suggestions. However, they say that this would eventually happen without any efforts,’ says PM Modi in reply to the no-confidence motion.

In our third term, India will become third largest economy in world, said the Prime Minister with confidence.

‘My tip to those interested in stock market, invest in govt companies and your money will grow’ PM Modi said in the Lok Sabha, even as the Opposition raised slogans and did not maintain the decorum of the House.

‘It has been a fact that Congress has never trusted the abilities of our country,” says PM Modi. Oppn should ask how I’ll make our economy third largest in world; if Cong thinks this will happen on its own then it has no vision.

When you’ll bring no-confidence motion in 2028, country will be among top three economies globally, this is our belief. Congress and its friends have a history of doubting India’s capabilities and prowess.

The Modi government will follow the mantra of ‘reform, perform and transform’ as well as proper planning and hardwork. which have have taken country to new heights.’

Congress so blinded by arrogance that it cannot see ground reality, people have deep no-confidence.

‘People of Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, UP, Gujarat, Bihar, Tripura, Odisha have been declaring no-confidence in Congress for years. The Opposition has betrayed the people of India. They have proved that their organisation is more important for them than the country,’ PM Modi replies to the no-confidence motion.
